Questions
Before you start
Getting started
- Do I need a new phone number?
- No. Connect the carrier you already use (Telnyx, Twilio or any SIP provider) and keep your number. Nothing is moved or ported. Or use a number from Rindee, which needs a plan but no carrier account.
- Does it answer after hours?
- Yes. Incoming calls are answered day and night. Calls Rindee makes, like reminders and win-backs, only go out inside your hours.
- Which languages does it speak?
- English with every voice. Other languages depend on the voice you choose, and some voices cover dozens of languages.
- Is there a free trial?
- New accounts get $5 in demo credits for test calls to your own phone. No card needed to sign up. Calling customers and running campaigns opens up after your first top-up.
- Can it put callers through to me?
- Yes. Give your agent the numbers it may transfer to, and it puts callers through when they ask for a person.
- What does it cost?
- A small platform fee per minute plus AI usage at cost, from a prepaid balance. Plans add minutes, locations and seats if you want them.
AI receptionist
More on AI receptionist →- Can I keep my phone number?
- Yes, if it's with Telnyx, Twilio or another internet phone (SIP) provider. You connect it and it stays with that provider; nothing is moved. Otherwise we can give you a number, which needs a plan.
- Can I choose the voice?
- Yes. There's a choice of voices, and you can hear each one on a test call before your number goes live.
- Does it speak other languages?
- It can reply in the caller's language. Which languages it speaks depends on the voice you choose.
- Does it take voicemail?
- There's no voicemail box. It answers the call instead, and every call gets a transcript and a summary.
- Can it take payments?
- No. It only quotes prices you've written into its notes.
- How am I billed?
- A small platform fee per minute plus AI usage at cost, from a prepaid balance. New accounts get $5 of credit, and plans are optional.
Outbound calling
More on Outbound calling →- What kind of businesses use this?
- Any business with a customer list and customers who come back on a rhythm: shops, salons, gyms, car and home services, clinics, vets, tutors, trades.
- What's the difference between calling once and every day?
- A one-off (bulk) campaign takes everyone who matches today and calls them in batches you add. An ongoing (drip) campaign does the same, then keeps calling people as they start to match, until you pause it.
- Can the agent offer a discount?
- Yes, in a promotional campaign. Those calls only reach people who agreed in writing to promotional calls. A reminder that a visit is due is a service call and reaches anyone who gave you their number.
- What happens with voicemail?
- On Studio agents, the Voicemail setting decides: keep talking (the default), hang up, or leave a message you write and then end the call.
- Does it try again if nobody answers?
- Only if you turn on recalls. A campaign can call a contact again after no answer, a busy line, voicemail or a callback request, up to 5 times, with a wait you set before each. Someone who said no or was the wrong person isn't recalled, and anyone who asked not to be called is never called again.
- Can it call back when the customer asks?
- Yes, with callbacks turned on. When a customer asks to be called back, or says when the right person is in, the agent calls back at that time: an exact time is kept, a time range gets a time inside it, a day with no time gets 9am, and no day at all gets the next weekday at 9am. Callbacks go out between 8am and 8pm in the customer's own time, up to 14 days ahead. An unanswered callback is tried again 30 minutes later, up to three tries in all.
- Can I use my own number?
- Yes. Connect your own phone carrier, or use a number from Rindee, which needs a plan.
- What does it cost?
- A small fee per minute plus AI usage at cost, paid from a prepaid balance or plan minutes. Campaigns need a first top-up.
Scheduling
More on Scheduling →- How far ahead can customers book?
- Up to 60 days, in your location's time zone.
- Why do customers get a code?
- It proves the mobile number is theirs, so you don't get junk bookings and reminder calls reach the right person.
- Do I need the AI agent?
- No. The booking page and the calendar work on their own.
- Do I need Google Calendar?
- No. Rindee has its own calendar. Google Calendar is optional, for staff who already work in it.
- Are reminders texts or calls?
- Calls. Your agent rings the customer and applies their answer to the appointment. Up to four reminder calls, as early as a week before.
- Can it take payments or deposits?
- No. Rindee handles bookings, not payments.
- Does it suit my business?
- Any business that books appointments. For vets, dental, medical and auto, the page and the agent also ask for the pet, patient or vehicle.
Call transfers
More on Call transfers →- What's the difference between warm and cold?
- Cold: the agent says it's connecting the caller and puts the call straight through. Warm: the caller waits on hold music while the agent rings your colleague, tells them in a sentence who's on the line and why, and only then joins the two. Warm takes a few seconds longer and saves the caller repeating themselves.
- Which numbers can it put callers through to?
- Only the numbers you add for it. During a call it picks the one that fits, and it never dials a number you didn't add.
- What if nobody picks up?
- After about 30 seconds the agent comes back to the caller and carries on: it takes their details, offers a call back, or books them in if it books appointments.
- Does it work on calls the agent makes?
- Yes. An agent calling your customers can put an interested person through to your team while they're still on the line.
- Can it transfer on a number Rindee gives me?
- Yes, to a landline or mobile in the same country as that number. Toll-free and premium numbers can't be reached. A number you connected from your own phone provider has no such limit.
- What do I see after a transferred call?
- The recording of the whole call, including the part after the hand-off. The written transcript stops at the hand-off, because Rindee stops listening once your colleague takes over. For a warm transfer, the agent's short brief to your colleague is a second recording.
